Sam talks about the 4Rs when responding to harm…what are the 4Rs…?

Which of these would be an example of emotional abuse towards an adult at risk?

Malcolm has both physical and learning disabilities. He lives at home with his Mum, Dad and elder brother. You attend to provide daily care for Malcolm.

You notice he has bruises on his arm. When you ask him how he received the marks, he tells you he fell. He doesn’t offer any further explanation but repeatedly tries to reassure you that it WAS a fall and nothing else. You know Malcolm to be bubbly and outgoing, yet he seems deflated, is avoiding eye contact and appears agitated by your questioning.

Building on the information learned in the course so far, what could be the barriers to Malcolm reporting any abuse/harm?
