Available on-demand, this course has no scheduled removal date. From time to time, we update and refresh our training library to keep it current and relevant. Consequently, a course may be retired or replaced. And if that happens, we’ll always give learners at least 6 months’ advance notice so there’s plenty of time to complete it.
Outline
There are around 40,000 social work referrals about adults at risk of harm every year in Scotland. Over 5,500 of those proceed to investigation, around 60–70% are for adults harmed in their own home.
Developed in partnership with Sam McLean, one of Scotland’s leading Adult Support & Protection Trainers, this course looks at the key features of harm in the home; how health and social care professionals can recognise, report internally, refer externally and record incidents of harm; and, critically, the factors that can undermine the response to harm and how to mitigate them.
With 53 years’ experience in Social Work, Sam has designed and delivered training on the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act in 20 local authority areas across Scotland.
If you care or support adults in their own home, then – whatever your knowledge or experience – this course is for you.
