Available on-demand, this course has no scheduled removal date. From time to time, we update and refresh our training library to keep it current and relevant. Consequently, a course may be retired or replaced. And if that happens, we’ll always give learners at least 6 months’ advance notice so there’s plenty of time to complete it.
Outline
There are around 40,000 social work referrals about adults at risk of harm every year in Scotland. Over 5,500 of those proceed to investigation, with around 25% of such cases located in Care and Support settings.
Harm is Harm – by anyone or in any setting. There have been many examples where harm has gone unrecognised, undetected and under reported within care and support settings.
Developed in partnership with Sam McLean, one of Scotland’s leading Adult Support & Protection Trainers, this course looks at the complexity of harm in care settings; how health and social care professionals can recognise, report internally, refer externally and record incidents of harm; and, critically, the factors that can undermine the response to harm and how to mitigate them.
With 53 years’ experience in Social Work, Sam has designed and delivered training on the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act in 20 local authority areas across Scotland.
If you are a frontline worker or manager in a care or support setting for adults, then – whatever your knowledge or experience – this course is for you.
