Course Welcome

Welcome to this course on Harm in Care and Support Settings. Our trainer, Sam McLean,  has designed and delivered training on Adult Support and Protection for over 20 years across 20 Local Authority areas in Scotland, giving him an extensive and contemporary understanding of the key issues faced by staff who deliver and manage services across our communities.

A key focus of Sam’s work, around effective responses, has been the centrality of frontline workers recognising and responding to harm in any setting and the vital importance of ongoing inter-agency cooperation, helping to enhance the support and protection of adults at risk of harm.

Key themes

  • Welcome and introduction to the course
  • 6 Sessions with video classes complimented by case studies, feedback sessions, quizzes and collaborative whiteboards
  • Each class can be accessed at any time and in any order, although it is recommended to progress through the course sequentially, beginning with the Scale and Scope of Harm in Care and Support settings.
