This was a really great course which I was able to do at my own pace. I liked knowing how long each class was as you could then decide whether to carry on to the next class or leave for another day. It took me a while to start the course but once I did I was very motivated to carry on as the course content was excellent. I am so pleased I did this course

This training course was very useful. I particularly liked the sections on ‘Criminal Justice & its interaction with Mental Health Law’ and ‘Human Rights of Detained Patients’, as I could link these to my own practice in the work that I undertake and link to other legislation that is used within social work.

This was a comprehensive training course. It covered areas that were really crucial and got me thinking / reflecting more around the issue of harm in care settings.

I work 100% of my time on AWI… the future of AWI/MHA is uncertain and this helped me see what the future may look like. I enjoyed all the classes in the course. I think the flexible nature of this training was perfect - I haven't had time until this week to complete the course, so it was good to be able to undertake the training when I could.

This is one of the best online courses I have done. The mix of slides, discussion, 'real' examples all made it interesting. However it was the direct conversation in a really accessible way from Sandra that made it so interesting, I could listen to her for hours! Knowledgeable but, relatable, a really great course for anyone within a care home setting - thank you!

A lot of Dementia training is too focused on the science around what Dementia is and how it effects the body. Great to have the practical insight for challenges faced on the front line. I really enjoyed the course and it was amazing to be able to go through it in my free time rather than having to commit to a set time each week.

I enjoyed all parts of the course, comprehensive and easy to understand. Particularly valued the explanation of the potential changes to AWI legislation coming soon

It was good to have clarity on the key rights for detained patients and points on criminal justice as these types of cases are rarer. Also helpful to think about how the changes to future mental health law may impact both service users and your organisation’s practice.

Understanding better the principles behind assessment of capacity allows for greater scope for challenge to medical and social work opinions where the need arises. The 8 hours of training felt like a mountain, but the bite sized approach to the course was very helpful and I came out a much better informed practitioner.

Overall I found the course great and very informative. I would recommend anyone in this field to partake in this course.

I found the sessions around ‘Trust, Persuasion and Coercion at Home’; ‘Self Harm’; and ‘Self-Neglect and Hoarding’ very thought provoking. These classes helped me gain a bit more understanding on how to relate to some of our supported people. The case studies helped me to process the information and transfer learning to potential real life situations.

I enjoyed this training module. All the classes were relevant and, as someone new to the role, I am always learning more about adult protection.
